I really enjoyed Murray's lecture on the ideas of sustainability and the principles and contexts behind our designs.
Principle = universal & never changing
Context = site specific & ever changing
It made me question how deep my thought processes are in my design processes and whether I fully understand why I make all my decisions.
The descriptions of our assignments are slowly becoming clearer as i understand that our 'Architecture Fiction' needs to have a relateability and be grounded in fact.
I found myself feeling really challenged about the conceptions I held about my utopian ideals of resource autonomy and fully self sustaining communities. To be brought down to earth a little bit more than I ever had with the confronting facts of just how much space it takes to support a person and the way the Australian land is distributed, I guess my ideals of perfect decentralised communities aren't really feasible.
