It is clear that Brisbane is a city quickly out-growing itself.
Whether or not a radical future city is considered, Brisbane is getting too big for its shell and something does need to change. Whether architecture will be reactive or proactive to a drasticaly changing city I don't know.
The solution to such a problem is not necessarily black and white but the argument for further urbanism rather than further sprawl has very strong points. It is a dominant view that an "urban consolidation" is the sustainable solution, to the sprawl and unsustainable growth of our cities (Birkeland 2008, 43). I however, don't want a future where comfort and space is compromised to fit as many people in as possible.
I'm drawn towards this thought of the future city, mostly to the Suburban theme group or even the CBD one maybe. Curious to find a solution that solves the problem, creating a multipuprose city and inner suburbia without turning Brisbane into Corbusier's Ville Radieuse.
